The Pinckneyville Panthers dispatched Steeleville 76-42 in the opening round of the Duster Thomas Classic Monday morning. Kyle Lamb led all scorers with 18 points. The Panthers face Olney at 8:30 p.m. Monday night and return Tuesday morning for an 11:30 a.m. tipoff against Carterville. Final round action starts at 4 p.m. Tuesday with match-ups to be determined. The Pinckneyville Panthers were on the shortend of the scoreboard for the first time this year falling to Murphysboro 51-50 in an overtime squeaker. The Panthers led throughout most of the game until the Red Devils pulled ahead with 2:31 left in regulation play. The visiting Devils outscored Pinckneyville 7-6 in the extra period. Drew Dudek led all scorers with 20 points. Shay Kellerman added 14 points; Jake Bathon, 9 points; Landon Chandler, 3 points; Kyle Lamb, 2 points and Christian Shopinski, 2 points. A busy weekend is in store for the team as it travels to Anna-Jonesboro to open conference play Dec. 11 and the Marion Shootout Dec. 12. The Lady Panthers suffered their first loss at hands of  Nashville Monday, 51-30. The conference rivals kept the score close through the first half at Thomas Gym but Nashville's height and smothering defense proved too much for the Panthers which scored only 12 points in the second half. Both teams are now 6-1. The Panthers host Sparta Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Click on the image for more pictures.

The Pinckneyville Panther varsity boys basketball team opened its season Nov. 27 with an impressive display on both sides of the ball. The team whipped an undermatched West Frankfort 63-25. Drew Dudek led all scorers with 20 points; Jake Bathon netted 12 and Kyle Lamb added 10. The Panthers host Waterloo-Gibault Friday. The PCHS Pom-Pons and Cheerleaders sponsored a dance and cheer clinic. Routines were refined and the youngsters will perform with the high school teams during halftime of the Panthers home game against Waterloo-Gilbaut Dec. 6. Click on this image to view more pictures.

Their  uniforms were stained but not their pride as the Pinckneyville Panthers beat the Sparta Bulldogs 30-6 on a mud bog known as Quillman Field Friday night.
