Frigid temperatures, gusting winds and drifting snows made a lot of Southern Illinoisans pine for those steamy summer days when we can complain that we can't wait for winter. Be careful what you wish for.

What a difference a day makes. After only able to muster 38 points against Nashville on Friday, the Pinckneyville Panthers came out with a scoring vengenance Saturday with an 88-55 shelling of Chester. The Yellowjackets kept it close in the first half but the second half was all Pinckneyville. Click on the image for more pictures including a zombie perfomance by the Pom Pon squad that wowed the crowd.

The PCHS Pom Pons took home two first place trophies and qualified for state in three events at the I.D.T.A. Regional Competition. The team won the event's Class A "Kick" and "Pom" category. While it didn't place in "Lyrical" it did tally enough point to enable it compete in that category at state next month. Jamie Maxie was also one of seven girls at the competition to be awarded the "Rising Star" medal. Click on the image for more pictures.

The Panthers' 11 game win streak came to an end Friday with a 40-38 loss to Nashville. For more pictures of the evening click on the image.

PCHS wrestler Walter Eiskant tallied his 100th victory Jan. 30th at a meet in Litchfield. The senior competes in the 119 lbs. weight class. He is ranked seventh among Class 1A wrestlers. Congratulations Walter. Other PCHS grapplers who performed well at the meet were Tyler Rice, first place; Dylan Martin, third place and Thomas Medina, fifth place in their respective weight classes.
