The Panthers eked by Sparta 59-57 in a thriller Jan. 12. Pinckneyville, with a roster thinned for a third straight game because player suspensions, tapped underclassmen and remaining varsity players to remain unbeaten in the conference. Jake Bathon led the team with 21 points. Shay Kellerman had 18 points and Kyle Lamb scored 13 points. The Panthers' next opponent is Okawville at 6 p.m., Jan. 18 at the Benton Invitational Tournament.
