WHAT THE PELICAN?

(1 Vote)

An American white pelican made an appearance at Pyramid State Park's Super Lake last week and while many may have never seen one before in these parts, its stopover is not unusual.

About 20 percent of this particular species migrates along the Mississippi Flyway from the Gulf of Mexico to breeding grounds in Canada's boreal forests. The birds stop at lakes and wetlands throughout the Midwest. The birds can weigh as much as 30 pounds with wingspans of more than nine feet.
